On Lotus Pond Part 13: The Boy and the Maestro

Because this is my first attempt in writing the Carlos D/ Daniel Kessler Slash Fan fic, this story is prone to grammatical errors and plot holes.
Click for Parts Twelve, Eleven, Ten, Nine, Eight, Seven, Six, Five, Four, Three, Two, One and the Prologue.
Disclaimer: The following literary attempt is purely fictional. The names of the main characters happen to have real life counterparts in the form of very very gorgeous people. Any incident, character or anything that happened in the real life are purely coincidental. While I am somewhat obliged to say that I don’t own these real people, I am just informing anyone not to copy this story and make a buck out of it. Just read and try to enjoy if you please.
Daniel had been in the Juilliard for more than five months and to Carlos’ delight, had shown a great promise in playing the piano.
“Well done, Daniel,” Mr. Banks said as he patted Daniel on the shoulder.
They are in one of the music rooms one late afternoon and Daniel thought it would be a good idea to practice piano before he goes home.
To his surprise, Mr. Banks showed up and was clearly impressed.
“I have never met any student who’s as good as you, Daniel.” Mr. Banks continued smiling at him, “Pretty soon, you might graduate with honors from this school.”
“Thanks, Mr. Banks. I’m working hard on making it as perfect as possible.”
Mr. Banks dragged a chair from the corner and sat near Daniel and watched him as he play.
“So Daniel, where do you come from? I noticed that you don’t seem to mingle with your other classmates.”
Daniel hesitated for a moment, searched his mind for a possible lie.
“Uh, I am just a bit shy towards other people, Mr. Banks. And uh, I live in the edge of the city. With my cousin and my aunt.”
“I see. Your parents?”
“Um, I am an orphan actually.”
“Sorry about that.”
“Anyway, I count myself lucky because my cousin Carlos helped me get here.”
“Carlos? What’s his full name?”
“Carlos Dengler, sir.”
“Oh, you’re cousins, you say?”
“Um, yes, we’re uh, cousins. My uh, my mother and his mom are cousins so he’s basically my second cousin.”
“I see.” Julian replied while stroking his beard thoughtfully. “I bet your cousin is proud to have sent you here.” And laid a hand softly on Daniel’s shoulder.
Daniel just smiled.
A rough, calloused hand held out and touched Carlos’ hand.
Carlos looked up in surprise and stared back at Mama. He had just finished cooking and he was putting a large amount of food on her plate when she suddenly held him.
“What is it, Ma?”
Mama just smiled a bit and raised her eyebrows, “What…you thinking?”
“No..nothing, Ma. I must have been thinking about work.”
“Aah.”
Then they both heard the door open and shut and they saw Daniel walk into the dining area.
“Good evening, Mam!” Daniel ran and gave Mama a warm hug.
Then he turned to Carlos and smiled. “Good evening.”
“Good evening, Daniel.” Carlos greeted back in a prude manner, “get to your chair and we’ll start our dinner.”
As soon as Daniel settled on his chair in the dining area, he began to talk about his day at school.
“I still feel a bit shy towards my other classmates. But I’m glad that my teacher says I’m doing well at work.”
Carlos stared at Daniel as the boy continued to talk animatedly. His heart is secretly rejoicing knowing that Daniel was doing very well in the Juilliard. It’s probably one of the best decisions he’s ever done in his whole life.
No, no, Carlos. A voice in his head contradicted. You shouldn’t be putting so much faith into this boy. He’s only been here for a few months.
He knows. But there’s something in Daniel that has put back his faith in other people. And something more.
