On Lotus Pond Part 15: Whispers Under the Rain
Because this is my first attempt in writing the Carlos D/ Daniel Kessler Slash Fan fic, this story is prone to grammatical errors and plot holes.
Mixtape for this chapter can be accessed here.
Disclaimer: The following literary attempt is purely fictional. The names of the main characters happen to have real life counterparts in the form of very very gorgeous people. Any incident, character or anything that happened in the real life are purely coincidental. The rain was pouring heavily that night while the wind roars wildly and mercilessly battering the walls.
Carlos expected the very bad storm that night. Nerissa had to go early because of the storm but she managed to feed and wash Mama before she left.
A few minutes later, the lights flickered before eventually going off. He turned the flashlight on and went over to Mama’s room to check if she’s all right.
He quietly opened Mama’s bedroom door and went over to Mama who was sleeping peacefully in her bed. He planted a butterfly kiss on her forehead and whispered: “Good night, Ma.”
After quietly closing the door, Carlos gingerly walked on the hallway. Nearby is the door to his bedroom but his eyes turned to the spare room at the far end of the hall where Daniel sleeps. He felt a rising pang of longing in his loins as he thought about Daniel.
No, this isn’t right, he thought.
And went straight to his bedroom instead.
He was about to fall asleep in his bed when he heard a scream.
He quickly grabbed his robe and with flashlight in one hand, dashed outside of his room.
Was that Mama? No. He turned his head to the other side and once again, heard someone screaming. It was coming from Daniel’s room.
Without much thought, Carlos dashed to Daniel’s room.
“Daniel, are you okay?” he said as he opened the door.
He moved the flashlight around the room and found Daniel huddled in one corner. Whimpering.
“Daniel, it’s okay,” he said as he approached the boy, “it’s just a storm. Go to bed.”
Daniel’s body was shaking violently. Perhaps he woke up from a nightmare.
“I don’t want to! I’m scared.”
“Come on, I’ll tuck you in to your bed.”
He led Daniel by the shoulders and tucked him in to bed.
Carlos drew the comforter until Daniel’s chin when Daniel grabbed his hand.
“Carlos, can you stay for awhile? I’m still scared.”
Carlos felt his heart beat faster. He would have said no but under the flickering light from the lightning, he could somehow see the pleading look on Daniel’s face.
Good God, please give me strength, he prayed. But the heavens seemed to have turned a deaf ear to his prayer.
“Okay, I will just get a chair…”
“No, you can sleep beside me, Carlos.”
Although Daniel sleeps on a double bed and Carlos is much used to his much spacious bed, he yielded.
Gingerly, he slipped between the sheets next to Daniel. He felt Daniel move closer to him.
“You’re quite a clinger aren’t you?” He said to Daniel.
Daniel didn’t spoke. Instead, he closed his eyes and snuggled closer to Carlos.
Moments later, Daniel must have finally fallen asleep as Carlos felt his body relax and it felt soft once more.
Another flash of lightning and Carlos saw Daniel’s serene face. Eyes closed. Eyelashes long and mesmerizing. And then his attention turned to Daniel’s hair. A delicious looking disarray of dark curls.
He ran his fingers through the tangible softness of Daniel’s hair. His hands were shaking as he did so.
He stopped when Daniel suddenly opened his eyes and looked at him straight in the eye and smiled.
“Thank you,” Daniel muttered.
Carlos’ heart seem to have stopped as Daniel locked his stare at him.
Daniel’s lips began to move as if he’s whispering something but Carlos couldn’t hear it.
Then, all of a sudden, Daniel grabbed the back of Carlos’ head and pulled him closer for a kiss.
